10 Devastatingly Sad Books

Flavorwire's list does not include Rohinton Mistry's A Fine Balance, the only book that ever reduced me to tears. I have read three of the ten books: Didion's Year of Magical Thinking, McEwan's Atonement and Moore's Who Will Run The Frog Hospital? None of them struck me as tearjerkers. Maybe I'm just a coldhearted bitch.
