The Great War by Joe Sacco

The Great War by Joe Sacco from WW Norton on Vimeo.

From Joe Sacco, "the heir to R. Crumb and Art Spiegelman" (Economist), comes a monumental, wordless depiction of the most infamous day of World War I: July 1, 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme. THE GREAT WAR is a 24-foot black-and-white panorama, and in this video Sacco explains his process and his understanding of one of the bloodiest days of the twentieth century.
