Some of the world’s best printing errors


Bookride posts some interesting printing errors from bygone days.
A couple of examples:
‘ Sir Robert Peel and a party of fiends were engaged in shooting peasants at Drayton manor ‘.
and
It is likely that the great French satirist Rabelais intentionally swapped ame (soul) for asne ( the archaic spelling of donkey). For this he was investigated by the papal police for heresy, and only narrowly escaped conviction and death. He pleaded a printing error and got off. [R. M. Healey]
