The Rosie Project

Don Tillman is an Associate Professor of genetics at the University of Melbourne. He also has Asperger's Syndrome though he doesn't realize it. What he does know is that he's closing in on 40 and should start looking for a wife but he has no social awareness and most people think he's a weirdo. So he decides to make a 16 page dating checklist and interview potential Mrs.Tillmans. Then he gets distracted by a wacky barmaid named Rosie who is the polar opposite of everything he imagines he wants in a woman. Rosie is looking for her biological father and Don decides to help her with "The Father Project".  I sought the book out because Bill Gates described it as one of the most profound novels he'd read in a long time. It appears that Mr. Gates does not read many novels because The Rosie Project is not at all profound. It is a light romantic comedy that might be best suited for beach reading. It's not that it's a horrible book; it simply did not live up to the hype.
