Castro, Biden, Harris: Tolstoys and Voltaires? Or politicians and poll-takers?


Mark Dundas Wood looks at recent autobiographies by Julian Castro, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden as works of literature rather than as campaign tracts.  He considers the authors’ diction, voice and narrative structure and how he would absorb their story if the author was not a political contender. Does the book have merit as an extended personal essay, or is it just a glorified pitch to win votes?
