James Sherwood's 1977 Discriminating Guide to London skewered some of London's finest dining rooms of the time. He saved a special place in hell for the 'Not For Us' section of the book, an "insalubrious nether-region is a dank dungeon of words, in which Sherwood spits vitriol, until each restaurant is covered in the stuff."
