"He recognised Milton’s handwriting"
When Cambridge University fellow Jason Scott-Warren saw the handwriting in an article on William Shakespeare's 1623 folio he recognised it as that of the poet John Milton. The folio is the first collected edition of Shakespeare's plays, published seven years after his death. The writer of the handwritten notes was previously unknown. Around 750 first folios were printed, with 233 known to survive, making them rare and valuable with one selling for £1.87m in 2016.
Is this Milton's personal copy of Shakespeare's folio? If so, this may be one of the most important literary discoveries of modern times.
