This is how the Internet Archive digitizes books

The Internet Archive is a non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more. They digitize books one page at a time using  Scribe book scanners located in universities and libraries around the world. Their Modern Book Collection currently contains more than 2 million volumes.

This archive is a wonderful resource and you can help by making a tax-deductible donation here.
